Summary
A bilingual (NL/EN) concept site for an eco-wellness retreat on five acres of untouched Sierra Leonean coastline: thirty to fifty chalets, with wellness, food and beach inside the gate. Built as a narrative scroll that doubles as a digital investment brochure.
The brief
Make a loose idea tangible - five acres in ownership where the rainforest meets the Atlantic Ocean - with a digital pitch the initiators can use to convey the concept and take it to investors.
What I built
- A narrative scroll of eight sections set up: vision, location, master plan, chalets, facilities, experience, phasing and opportunity
- An interactive SVG master plan drawn by hand: clickable site zones, from the reception between the first trees to the private beach, each with its own explanation
- Every line of copy written in two languages, with a language switch that remembers the preference
- Three chalet types defined (Canopy Chalet, Shore Villa, Treetop Suite) and a build roadmap in four phases
- A design system built for it: Tailwind v4 theme tokens, Framer Motion scroll reveals
- Deployed as a subpath on stiekema.dev/leonine-retreat, through Caddy alongside two other apps on the same VPS
In detail
- Interactive, hand-drawn SVG master plan with clickable site zones
- Full NL/EN language switch across the whole site and its navigation
- A daily rhythm from sunrise at 06:30 to a starry sky at 21:00
- A build roadmap in four phases, where each phase delivers something on its own
- Mood photography, explicitly labelled as an impression
Outcome
Live at stiekema.dev/leonine-retreat as a concept presentation. A tangible starting point for putting the idea on the table with the initiators and later with investors.
