Summary

A polished, bilingual (NL / EN) concept site for an eco-luxury wellness retreat on five acres of untouched Sierra Leonean coastline — thirty to fifty chalets with wellness, dining and beach all within the gate. Built as a narrative scroll that doubles as a digital 'investment booklet'.

The ask

Turn a loose idea — five owned acres where the rainforest meets the Atlantic — into something tangible: a digital pitch the initiators can use to convey the concept and carry it to prospective investors.

What I built

  • Designed an eight-section narrative scroll: Vision, Location, Masterplan, Chalets, Amenities, Experience, Phasing and Opportunity
  • Hand-drew an interactive SVG masterplan — clickable terrain zones from the reception among the first trees to the private beach, each with its own blurb
  • Wrote every line of copy in two languages (NL / EN) with a client-side toggle and a remembered preference
  • Defined three chalet types (Canopy Chalet, Shore Villa, Treetop Suite) and a four-phase build roadmap
  • Built a custom 'Ember Shore' design system — Tailwind v4 theme tokens, Fraunces + Inter, Framer Motion scroll reveals
  • Deployed it as a sub-path on stiekema.dev/leonine-retreat, proxied by Caddy alongside two other apps on the same VPS

Featured details

  • Interactive hand-drawn SVG masterplan with clickable terrain zones
  • Full NL / EN language toggle across the entire site and navigation
  • A day-in-the-life timeline from 06:30 sunrise to a starlit 21:00
  • Four-phase build roadmap, each phase delivering on its own
  • Curated atmosphere photography, explicitly labelled as impression only

Outcome

Live at stiekema.dev/leonine-retreat as a concept presentation — a tangible starting point for taking the idea to the retreat's initiators and, in time, to prospective investors.
